Cobble Hill Cafe Getting Ready for Debut

UPDATE: The NY Times had this to say on the subject in the Diner’s Journal, “The mac and cheese, ready for add-ons like bacon, crayfish and fried oysters, smoked duck, and mushrooms, is distinctive because there is tomato in the cheese sauce and a potato-chip topping. Sandwiches on big sorghum-flour biscuits, macaroni salad and desserts, including pies sold by the slice or whole, and beignets, round out the menu. Whether it’s to eat in on a stool indoors or on the benches outside, or to go, the food comes in foil containers.”
Sadie’s Kitchen, the cheerful new cafe taking over the cursed space at 243 Degraw St., will be opening on Monday. As you can see, it’s looking comfy and happy through the window–and the menu on the door feels very southern countrified, with an entire page dedicated to baked goods. We wish them luck. It’s a great spot and we’re ready for someone to stay for a while!

Good luck to them, it looks great, now let’s see the menu and the associated prices… Hope the pricing will be soft, if not, they are doomed

Was walking by the other day and they gave me a cupcake to try. The cake was light and moist, maple-y frosting delicious. Overall, out of this world! Hope they do great.

Very excited there’s a new place in the shopfront, we were regulars at Ultimate Burgers before it closed. we live just around the corner. We walked in tonight to get takeout, opening night, we had our baby in the car seat stroller… before we got through the door we were told ‘no strollers’… it’s Cobble Hill guys! You just opened in a shopfront where 10 businesses have failed in 10 years… you’re not a fancy-schmatzy bar where I would understand – but its a neighborhood local joint … they wouldn’t even let us bring the stroller in to order takeout! OK, its small, so if there are uber popular and full then fair enough but there were only 2 people in there. We left… Not the welcome we were expecting. Really disappointed.
