Parents who have children in the well-performing PS 15 in Red Hook are all hot and bothered. Seems they’ve been forced to share thier school with Charter School PAVE Academy since the fall of 08, and now it will be expanding within the same building they share. Loated on Sullivan Street, Pave Academy is being granted a five year stay from the city’s Board of Ed. as well as the ability to add five more grades.
Pave officials claim they haven’t been able to find a new building in time to move, and that they had only asked for two to three more years in PS 15′s digs. Parents of kids at the public school claim they have already lost facilities–including a science lab, gym and cafeteria. Will there will be more losses coming?

What is going on in Red Hook is terrible decision making and mismanagement by the Mayor, Klein and the DOE. Why do they continue to mess with something that is working? In our entire city and of all the places, they mess with a school that is rated Triple A. Why, they want it to fail? They do not want the kids of Red Hook to have a great school?
That does not even make good business sense.
And now PAVE says the city gave it almost 30 million for a new school building! There are not enough kids to fill the schools in Red Hook now and they want to waist money on another? What the heck is that? So, in reality, there is no economic crisis when Pave only serves about 50 Red Hook children. WOW, that is a lot of green backs invested in a rare neighborhood that IS NOT over crowded with children. To make it worse, PAVE was founded on lies to the PS 15 school community. This alone will doom it to fail and worse than this, our city elected officials allow this to happen! What a shame on NYC!
Please everyone advocate for the protection and preservation of our AAA community public school PS 15! Contact information for support can be found at: http://www.capeducation.blogspot.com.
Our community was lied to and our children are suffering for it. The coruption is never ending- the DOE has given PAVE 26 million dollars for a new facility, yet they still don’t have enough money and have not come close to breaking ground. PS 15 is at capacity, regardless of what anyone says- kids are being serviced in corners and closets- NO PAVE extension! Protect and Preserve public education.
