Congratulations to Dr. Stephen Turner on his new position at LICH. Luckily for us–Dr. Turner will still be part of the group practice, Long Island College Pediatrics on Montague Street. Here’s the memo posted today from Dominick Stanzione, current Interim President:

TO: The Long Island College Hospital Community

FROM: Dominick Stanzione, Interim President

RE: Department of Pediatrics

I would like to welcome Stephen Turner, MD, FAAP, as the Interim Chairman of Pediatrics. He has been practicing at LICH for 11 years, 9 of them as the Division Chief of General Pediatrics. In recent years, Dr. Turner directed the development of LICH’s main pediatric practice in Brooklyn Heights, enhancing departmental billing and initiating practice tracking reporting. He was influential in the development of an inpatient pediatric hospitalist program at LICH.

Dr. Turner is one of LICH’s most effective faces in the community. He has participated in multiple neighborhood forums and is active in our outreach activities, including the Community Advisory Board. Dr. Turner is frequently invited to appear on local television stations to discuss pediatric issues.

Dr. Turner is a graduate of Cornell University and the New York University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in pediatrics at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.

Please join me in wishing Dr. Turner well as we look to the future of LICH.

Additionally, I would like to thank Robert Giusti, MD, who has filled the role of Interim Chairman for the past year. A noted asthma specialist, Dr. Giusti directed Brooklyn’s only Cystic Fibrosis (CF) for the past 25 years. He also served as Co-Director of the LICH Asthma Center. Dr. Giusti will continue to be a member of the LICH medical staff as a consultant and will maintain his Brooklyn presence at his 25 Schemerhorn office. We thank him for his leadership and his medical excellence in the field of pediatric pulmonology.
