The Daily News reports that two Brooklyn neighborhoods are among the city’s worst when it comes to pests: In South Crown Heights, 55.9% of households have roaches; in Brownsville/Ocean Hill, 50.4% of households have mice and rats.
Bad as they are, those numbers don’t challenge the city’s worst areas. Roachiest is Kingsbridge Heights/Mosholu, with 63.4% of households reporting having seen a cockroach daily over a period of a month. Rodentiest is University Heights/Fordham, with 57.7% of households reporting having seen a mouse or rat in the building over a 90-day period. (The latter neighborhood also hit 55.3% on the roach scale. Those filthy students.)
Yeah, yeah — how’d we do? Here are the numbers for BococaLand-relevant neighborhoods, and some selected neighboring hoods:
Park Slope/Carroll Gardens: roaches 18.6%, rodents 20%
Brooklyn Heights/Fort Greene: roaches 25.4%, rodents 26.3%
Sunset Park: roaches 20.7%, rodents 12.6%
N. Crown Heights/Prospect Heights: roaches 45.7%, rodents 42%
Borough Park: roaches 28.3%, rodents 29.2%
East Flatbush: roaches 38.3%, rodents 32.6%
Flatbush: roaches 53.4%, rodents 38.3%
Bay Ridge: roaches 20.9%, rodents 10.4%
Williamsburg/Greenpoint: roaches 26%, rodents 19.7%
So it could be worse. Who’s up for printing pamphlets? “Come to Park Slope/Carroll Gardens, where 4 out of 5 households don’t have a pest problem…”
