Lighting the giant menorah in Brooklyn Heights
Barely December and Chaunkah is upon us already. This year’s festival of lights comes a bit early, beginning Saturday, 8 December. Want to celebrate with the family? A “Gigantic” Chaunkah Celebration will take place Monday, 10 December, beginning outside the Borough Hall Court House at 5pm. Co-sponsored by Borough Prez Marty Markowitz and Chabad of Brooklyn Heights, there will be menorah lighting, donuts, latkes and presents for every child. You heard me. Every child.
Kane Street Synagogue also has a few festivities, like A Very Maccabee Chanukah Party on Sunday, 9 December from 10am to noon. Perfect for families with kids age 1-6. Come for the puppet show and stay for sufganiyot and gelt. Crafts and cookie decorating are included in the $10 per child.
