Brooklyn Farmacy, the phoenix rising ever so slowly from the ashes of the mysterious Vermont Pharmacy & Market, corner of Sackett and Henry, is so close to opening we can taste the egg creams that will be the multi-purpose shop’s signature offering. In fact, we did taste them at an impromptu sneak preview the other evening (after having been stiff-armed the preceding two evenings by the TV crew). The work and filming for the Discovery Channel’s Construction Intervention is done, and owner/master soda jerk Peter Freeman estimates the place will be open to the public by the end of the month. (The episode of Construction Intervention featuring Farmacy will air in June — visit Hyperakt.com for a more detailed history of Peter Freeman’s Farmacy adventure.) ‘Course the store’s history has been a twisty-turny one, but this time it looks like the place really and truly is, like, almost practically ready for the public. Freeman hopes it will be a fun hangout for kids on the weekends but also told us that during the week it may host some evening activities for grownups. This is a man with a lot of ideas — time will tell what role, exactly, Farmacy plays in Carroll Gardens. It looks pretty cool, though.
The egg cream was quite tasty, by the way.

Shelves hold a mixture of knickknacks and buyable goods, put there as place holders for the sake of the TV show. Freeman will spend the next couple of weeks deciding what goes where
